contact kids blinds

Kids blinds only supply blinds that are made from 100% blackout material. We believe it is extremely important that in addition to being child safe, blinds in childrens bedrooms are made from blackout material.  All parents know the impact of a day when a child wakes too early due to the sun shining into their bedroom, or the challenges of trying to get a child to sleep in a bright room!

Everyone know the importance of darkness and sleep.

Sleep experts agree that for a good nights sleep it is important for a room to be dark, comfortable and quiet. The pattern of waking during the day when it is light and sleeping at night when it is dark is a natural part of human life.

Only recently have scientists begun to understand the alternating cycle of sleep and waking, and how it is related to daylight and darkness. Light stimulates a nerve pathway from the retina to the brain, which then sends signals to the rest of the body, effectively encouraging the individual to wake raising body temperature and stimulating hormones. Additionally darkness stimulates the body’s production of Melatonin, a hormone produced by the pineal gland. As melatonin levels, an individual will feel less alert and more likely to sleep soundly. This is essential to the sleep-wake cycle and effectively to having a good night’s sleep, which achieves maximum benefit. In order to ensure that a room is dark year round, at the appropriate times for a person to achieve the appropriate levels of sleep (7-9 in an adult), additional measures will need to be taken in order to darken the room.

Children’s Bedrooms & Nurserys

Children need more sleep than adults, and therefore there is a greater challenge in ensuring that their rooms are kept dark enough for a good night’s sleep, particularly in the summer months. Nearly all parents have experienced toddlers waking at obscenely early hours, as the sun rises and the challenges that creates for the rest of the day, both for parent and child. Sleep is key to both childrens and parents happiness, and therefore we believe that it is important that all bedrooms are fitted with blackout blinds.
